Today I’m releasing an update to my agent-skills repo, which started life as claude-code-workflows. A lot has changed since I introduced it. I’ve been using more tools than Claude Code (Codex and Pi, among others), I started a separate agent-skills repo for non-engineering skills, and I moved from shipping only a Claude Code plugin to supporting npx skills.
The split between the two repos blurred quickly, and a skill’s install path came down to which repo it had landed in rather than what it did. So I merged them. Everything now lives in one repo, dgalarza/agent-skills, as of release 2026.10.19. The previous agent-skills repo is archived as agent-skills-legacy. Along the way I removed skills I no longer use and added a few new ones.
If you’ve already installed from the Claude Code marketplace, you’ll want to update your installation. The steps are below. The rest of this post covers what’s new and what I removed.
What’s new
- One canonical skills tree. Every skill lives once at
skills/<name>/SKILL.md. Claude Code plugins are thin manifests with symlinks into that tree, so a skill is maintained in one place no matter how it’s installed. A Codex plugin is next. - Install a single skill on any agent. Cursor, Codex, and other agents can pull one skill with
npx skills add dgalarza/agent-skills --skill tdd -a codex. No plugin required. - A new
engineering-skillsbundle. It groupsteam-code-review,stacked-prs,conventional-comments,conventional-commits, andtdd. It replacesparallel-code-review, whichteam-code-reviewcovers. - A rewritten
tddskill. It replacestdd-workflow. It runs red, green, refactor one behavior at a time using your project’s own test command, and it doesn’t install a Claude prompt hook, so it works the same on other agents. - Operator utilities.
bufferandherdr-code-revieware in the library as plain skills. They install withnpx skillsonly. - Calendar versioning. Plugin versions now follow
YYYY.MM.PATCH. Git tags stayYYYY.MM.DD.
Updating from the old marketplace
The marketplace name changed from dgalarza-workflows to dgalarza-agent-skills, so existing install ids stop resolving. Re-add the marketplace and reinstall:
/plugin marketplace add dgalarza/agent-skills
/plugin install codebase-readiness@dgalarza-agent-skills
Retired plugins are recorded in the marketplace renames map. A string value points to the replacement plugin, and null means it was removed. Nothing gets deleted from your machine.
If you installed with npx skills
Skills you installed from the old agent-skills repo should keep working, and npx skills update now pulls from the merged library. Skills I removed stay installed on your machine but won’t receive updates.
Removed
cybersecurity-reviewer, doc-audit, doc-sentinel, meeting-transcript, rails-toolkit (including rspec-testing and linear-implement), gridfinity-planner, and parallel-code-review, plus the tips/ and configs/ directories.
Get started
If you only try one thing, run Codebase Readiness against a repo you work in. You get a score and a ranked list of what’s holding agents back. Agent Ready then fixes what the score finds.
If you want help turning those findings into a working agent setup for your team, that’s the kind of engagement I take on. See how I help teams ship production AI.
